As per the proclamation no1263/2021 a proclamation issued to define and limit the power of the executive organ, the ministry is responsible to establish foreign trade relations, conclude trade agreements and follow up their implementation. The ministry has maintained these duties starting from its previous structure as ministry of trade and industry. 

Import procedures

Obtain an import /investment license

Obtain a pre import permit(for certain restricted goods only)

Arrange payment issues (a) Foreign currency approval (b) Obtain bank permit/arrange mode of payment or Franco valuta permit

Prepare the customs declaration

Submit the customs declaration

Obtain import customs clearance and goods release note

Pay service charges, exit goods from customs warehouse, and receive final import customs declaration

Submit clearance declaration to NBE

Export procedures

Obtain an export license

Arrange payment issues

Collect documents

Obtain export permit

Prepare the customs declaration

Submit the customs declaration

Obtain export custom clearance and ship goods

Pay service charges and receive final report customs declaration

Submit clearance declaration to NBE
