Ethiopia and England signed a memorandum of understanding to work together on trade and investment.

Minister of Trade and regional integrations Mr. Gebremeskel Chala has discussed with United Kingdom Minister of Commerce Mr. Nigel Hoddleston and signed a memorandum of understanding that will allow us to work together on trade and investment.

Minister of Trade and regional integrations Mr. Gebremeskel Chala has said that the agreement will help Ethiopia’s comprehensive preparation to become a member of World Trade Organization financially and technically.

The minister said that Ethiopia has traveled a long way to become a member of the international trade organization that this is not a goal alone but it should be competitive in increasing international investment.

Mr. Nigel Hoddleston, the minister of commerce of the United Kingdom states that UK has along historical relationship with Ethiopia. Ethiopia is among the largest population and land in the continent, he expressed his governments willingness give appropriate support for Ethiopia in its accession to the WTO.

The minister added that the United Kingdom government will give the necessary support to make Ethiopia more beneficial in its economic diplomacy and to improve the trade balance.
